Sen. Somers commends “cutting edge” Groton school on national honor

Sen. Heather Somers today issued the following statement regarding Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton (operated by LEARN) being named by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School.

“What a fantastic tribute to the hardworking, creative and dedicated educators and students at Marine Science Magnet High School. I have visited the school on numerous occasions.  It is has a cutting edge atmosphere where students can experience and take part in real world solutions to the challenges we face in our marine environment. As lawmakers, passing policies which help schools close achievement gaps must be our shared priority. This national recognition shines a bright light on the success stories that are happening at Marine Science Magnet High School, and we join together as a state to say congratulations.”
