Big wins for small towns in the 18th Senate District! Several of our towns have secured funding through the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP). This helps small towns move forward on long-needed infrastructure and projects that strengthen local economies, improve public spaces, and enhance quality of life.

North Stonington
• $76,800 for permanent pads at the Transfer Station
• $66,721 for upgrades to the Education Center meeting space
• $479,775 for improvements to three municipal parking lots and culvert replacements on Hangman Hill and Reutemann Road

Preston
• $450,000 for improvements to Preston Community Park

Voluntown
• $1 million for Congdon Road improvements

Each of these projects includes a local funding match, showing strong collaboration between the state and our towns to meet real community needs and preserve the character of our region.

It was an incredible honor to serve as the Grand Marshal of the Mystic Memorial Day Parade today. Leading the parade through downtown Mystic, surrounded by so many proud veterans, families, and community members, was a truly humbling experience.

Earlier in the day, I also had the privilege of marching in the Noank Memorial Day Parade and attending the beautiful ceremony that followed. Both communities came together in the spirit of remembrance to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Thank you to everyone who organized these meaningful events and to all who joined in paying tribute. We will never forget the courage and sacrifice of our fallen heroes.
