“Connecticut Businesses are facing death by a thousand cuts.”

February 2, 2021

Sen. Rob Sampson (R-16) released the following statement on the increased filing fees on CT businesses.

“Along with thousands of other small business owners in Connecticut, I paid the first of several annual online business filing fees to the State of the Connecticut today.  The fee which used to be $20.00 is now $80.00 per year and was increased as part of the 2019-2020 biennial state budget that received zero Republican votes.

“Without getting into the nitty gritty details of Connecticut’s current economic state or future viability for job creation and economic growth, let’s just say this is something I am proud to have voted against.  The disgust I felt sending in this payment to a state government bent on making my life harder, particularly as a result of its response to the coronavirus, is palpable and no doubt common among my neighbors in similar positions,” said Senator Rob Sampson, Ranking Republican on the legislature’s Labor and Government Administration committees.
