Lane Shift to be Implemented on I-95 Southbound at the Gold Star Bridge

December 5, 2017

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that a lane shift will be implemented on the Gold Star Bridge on I-95 Southbound in Groton and New London.

The I -95 Southbound travel lanes will be shifted to the south side of the bridge starting Friday, December 8. The Bridge Street on-ramp will need to merge into the right lane of I-95 Southbound traffic. The Gold Star Highway on-ramp will begin as a dedicated lane and will not need to merge into I-95 Southbound traffic.

The roadway pavement markings will be reconfigured to delineate three lanes of traffic across the bridge. The work zone will be separated from the roadway with temporary concrete barrier curb. Thru-traffic will keep to the left two lanes.  The right lane will remain a dedicated exit-only lane at Exit 82 to Route 32.  All entrance and exit ramps will remain open during construction.  Additional lane closures may be implemented during off-peak hours.Long-term lane shifts and closures will be part of the construction sequence.

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
