Sen. Kelly, lawmakers approve $17 million for CT heat, fuel assistance

“When you don’t have enough and you need more, something is always better than nothing,” said Senate Minority Leader Kevin Kelly, R-Stratford. “The people that we’re talking about, who are going to feel the benefit of this, are feeling the dysfunction of Washington.”

He said that two years ago, the benefit for families was $3,800, but it has declined to $1,300.

He said that about 58,000 households have already exhausted their benefits this heating season.
