Sen. Kelly, Sen. Martin Push for Sales Tax Cut

March 3, 2022

Ahead of Thursday’s public hearing on a proposal to cut the state sales tax and eliminate the meals tax, Senator Kelly and Senator Martin visited downtown Plainville to speak about the impact of inflation and the need for immediate tax relief.

Senate Republicans are proposing to reduce the sales tax from 6.35% to 5.99% and eliminate the additional 1% meals tax through at least the end of year.

The proposed temporary tax cut would return the state’s inflation-related windfall to all CT taxpayers and provide immediate relief.
