Sen. Kissel on 138-day Exec. Powers extension: “This is a call to action… we need you to speak out, now.”

Sen. John A. Kissel, R-Enfield, today issued the following statement:

“The governor has issued a call for special General Assembly session next week to continue granting him sweeping powers until Feb. 15, 2022

That 138-day extension will take us to about the two-year mark of one-person rule.

Enough is enough. I will vote “no” and I urge my Democrat and Republican colleagues to vote “no”. I urge area residents to call your state lawmakers between now and Tuesday to urge them to vote “no”.

This is a call to action to the people of Connecticut: This is your government, and we need you to speak out, now.”

Sen. Kissel serves as Ranking Senator on the legislature’s Judiciary Committee. He represents East Granby, Enfield, Somers, Suffield, Windsor Locks and parts of Granby and Windsor.
