December 9, 2020

Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) has been re-appointed by Senate Minority Leader Kevin Kelly to serve as the leading Republican on the legislature’s Judiciary Committee. The panel has jurisdiction on matters relating to the Department of Correction, courts, judicial procedures and criminal law.

In addition, Senator Kissel will serve as Ranking Senator on the Regulations Review Committee, which reviews regulations proposed by state agencies before regulations are implemented. He will also serve as a member of the General Law and Transportation Committees.  The new appointments will take effect when the legislative session convenes in January.

Senator Kelly said of the appointments, “Senator Kissel has earned widespread praise and respect for his work to improve and strengthen public policies in our state.  I am grateful to have him serving on these important legislative committees.”

“It is an honor to be entrusted with this responsibility, and I am grateful to Senate Minority Leader Kelly for the assignments,” said Senator Kissel.  “I look forward to working with lawmakers to meet our policy challenges and move our state forward in a bipartisan way.

“I continue to work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for the residents of the 7th Senate District. I love this state and will continue fighting to pass policies which put Connecticut on a more stable, predictable, pro-business, pro-taxpayer path.  I will continue to be the voice of the people at the State Capitol, and I look forward to the 2021 legislative session.”

An attorney, Senator Kissel represents East Granby, Enfield, Somers, Suffield, Windsor Locks and parts of Granby and Windsor. He will begin his 15th term representing the 7th Senate District in January.
