Local Son Named Cadet of the Month by Maritime Academy

Hartford, CT – Senator Jason Welch (R-Bristol) congratulates Patrick J. Getler, Platoon leader 3rd Company a cadet at Mass Maritime Academy (MMA) for being selected “Cadet of the Month” by the Academy. Getler a native of Bristol has also been presented with the gold star for recognizing his hard work.

Bristol native, Patrick Getler, Platoon Leader 3rd Company and Cadet at Mass Maritime Academy recently received the “Cadet of the Month” award and a gold star for his pursuit of excellence in a career that will encompass the environment, math and science.

“I know the Academy has set a standard of excellence to follow. You have been selected because your dedication to the ideas of hard work and self-sacrifice and your contribution to the success of the Regiment of Cadets meet this standard,” said Sen. Welch.

For more than 100 years, Massachusetts Maritime Academy has been preparing women and men for exciting and rewarding careers on land and sea.
