Hartford, CT – Sen. Jason Welch (R-Bristol) was visited at the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Hartford on Friday February 1st, by Harwinton 1st Selectman Michael Criss and two former town leaders.

The group was in Hartford to testify before The Connecticut General Assembly’s Planning and Development Committee. The committee held a public hearing on municipal mandates. Sen. Welch understands unfunded state mandates on cities and towns weigh heavily on local budgets.

Welch is supportive of lifting or easing these mandates to benefit property taxpayers and free up much needed cash for education, public safety, public works and other essentials.
