January 31, 2013

Sen. John A. Kissel (at far right) applauds the testimony delivered during a Jan. 30 public hearing which was held at Newtown High School by the Connecticut General Assembly’s bipartisan Gun Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety Task Force.

The panel was established in the wake of the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Hundreds of parents, educators, first responders and area residents offered personal anecdotes and policy suggestions to the task force. The hearing lasted nearly six hours. Sen. Kissel serves on the panel’s Gun Violence Prevention subcommittee.
