Senator Kissel Seeking State Assistance For Displaced Bickford’s Restaurant Employees

State Senator John A. Kissel (R-7) said he will be working closely with the state Department of Labor to help the Bickford’s restaurant employees who lost their jobs when the company closed its Hazard Avenue location in Enfield yesterday.

“My heart goes out to these workers, and I want to do everything I can to help them. The state Department of Labor has programs in place to help displaced workers, and I will be working closely with the department to ensure that Bickford’s employees receive all of the assistance that is available to them,” said Senator Kissel.

Senator Kissel said that his legislative office has been in contact with both the state Department of Labor and Enfield Mayor Scott R. Kaupin. He said he learned about Bickford’s closing its Hazard Avenue restaurant from media reports.

“It is never easy to lose a job and, unfortunately, far too many people in our state are finding themselves unemployed. Revitalizing our economy and promoting job growth has been, and will continue to be, a priority. But my main concern today is helping the approximately 20 Bickford’s restaurant workers who just lost their jobs,” said Senator Kissel.

“I want to make sure that these workers know the types of assistance available to them, and how to find the state labor programs that are in place to help. So, I am urging them to contact my legislative office,” said Senator Kissel.
