Honoring Our Local War Time Service Veterans in Enfield

July 2, 2018

By: Senator John A. Kissel

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting an Enfield Veteran’s War Time Service Medal Ceremony with Representative Carol Hall and Representative Greg Stokes. The ceremony was held at the Enfield High School on Thursday, June 28th and we were graciously joined by the Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner, Thomas J. Saadi. Commissioner Saadi helped us distribute the War Time Service Medals to more than 200 veterans, along with Representative Stokes and Representative Hall.

The Connecticut War Time Service Medal is available to Connecticut Veterans who have performed at least 90 days of wartime service as a Connecticut Resident. I am happy that Connecticut established this medal program to recognize our state’s veterans who have fought to ensure our freedoms.

Far too often veteran’s sacrifices go unnoticed and unappreciated. This was a great time for the community of Enfield to show respect and admiration for these brave men and women. I want to offer these individuals the most sincere gratitude for their continued commitment to our nation and the state of Connecticut. These heroes selflessly sacrificed so that we may enjoy our way of life.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank them for their enduring patriotism and for setting an inspiring example for the next generation of North Central Connecticut residents.
