CT Senate Republicans Call for Budget Vote

June 27, 2017

Today Connecticut Senate Republicans called on legislative leaders to consent to a vote on the Republican lawmakers’ two-year state budget proposal. Lawmakers are working against a deadline of June 30, 2017 to pass a state budget before the start of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2017.

“I would strongly suggest you sign the emergency certification and allow our budget to be called for a vote,” wrote Senate Republican President Pro Tempore Len Fasano. “If passed, the Senate Republican budget would bring predictability and stability to municipalities, protect social services for the most vulnerable and keep core functions of government in operation.  Even if you believe our budget isn’t perfect, it can always be amended at a later date. What is most important now is to pass a complete budget that protects core services and creates stability for our state before the start of the next fiscal year.”
