Enfield Patch: Sen. Kissel Named to Gun Violence and Children’s Safety Task Force Subgroup [Enfield Patch]

The Republican state senator from north central Connecticut will sit on the gun violence panel.

State Sen. John Kissel, who represents East Granby, Granby, Enfield, Somers, Suffield, Windsor and Windsor Locks, has been named to the gun violence subgroup of the state legislature’s bipartisan task force on gun violence prevention and children’s safety.

The task force, which is charged with formulating recommendations designed to reduce gun violence, enhance school safety and increase access to mental health care, also announced a series of public hearings. The following hearings are scheduled for Room 2C at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford:

  • School safety, Jan. 25, 9:30 a.m.
  • Gun safety, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m.
  • Mental-health issues, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m.
  • A fourth public hearing will be held by the task force at Newtown High School on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
