Good news for the Northwest Corner!

The state has awarded more than $2.2 million in open space grants to protect over 436 acres in the 30th District. As Ranking Member of the Environment Committee, I fought for this funding because the land that defines our towns is worth preserving for generations to come.

The following projects are receiving funding:

North Canaan: $1,452,000 for the McEver Preserve to protect more than a mile of the Housatonic River, over half a mile of the Blackberry River and 241 acres of forest and farmland.

Sharon: $243,750 for Whitetail Forest to safeguard 64 acres of forest and the Beardsley Pond watershed.

Salisbury: $468,000 for the Hewat Property and $124,150 for White Hollow to expand hiking trails and add new public access to the Housatonic River. This helps preserve 130 combined acres of land.

Thank you to the Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy, Sharon Land Trust, Inc., and the The Salisbury Association for their incredible preservation work. I am proud to partner with these organizations to continue delivering critical funding to the 30th District!

🌳A great morning meeting with Marcia Fowler and members of the Litchfield Land Trust!

Since 1968, they have protected more than 4,100 acres of forests, farms, and open space right here in Litchfield County. This is conservation done right. Local people protecting local land for the next generation.

The trails we hike, the clean water we drink, and the New England character we all love do not happen by accident. They happen because of people who care enough to do the work.

Thank you to the team at the Litchfield Land Trust. Proud to represent a district that values this kind of stewardship.
