Yesterday in Public Health, I spoke out about something bigger than any single issue. This is about process. It’s about whether people are truly heard or simply brushed aside. When public input is limited and decisions feel predetermined, it sends a clear message that some voices matter more than others. That’s not how a healthy democracy functions. The scales of justice should never be tipped. They should remain balanced, fair, and open to all. We can disagree on policy, but we should never disregard the people. ... See MoreSee Less
Super Scout Saturday in North Stonington! 🦅🇺🇸
I had the honor of attending two Eagle Scout ceremonies today and celebrating three incredible young leaders in our community.
State Rep. Greg Howard and I were proud to present Connecticut General Assembly citations to Benjamin Slitt, Alex Hardink, and Sophie Zichichi in recognition of earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. This achievement represents years of dedication, service, leadership, and perseverance.
It was wonderful to see the support from families, friends, and troop leaders as these Scouts were recognized for such an important milestone.
A special shoutout to Sophie Zichichi, who is part of the early generation of young women earning the Eagle Scout rank since the program opened to girls. Her accomplishment is truly inspiring.
Congratulations to Benjamin, Alex, and Sophie on this outstanding achievement. North Stonington should be incredibly proud of these young leaders!

DEEP Forestry Controlled Burn Notice- Barn Island
Please be advised that CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Forestry Division is planning to conduct a prescribed control burn at Barn Island at some point in the next several weeks. The main goal of this burn is to lower the risk of wildfires by reducing the amount of burnable vegetation in the area. A second goal is to help limit the spread of invasive plants.
The burn will be limited to about 10 acres that sit adjacent to the boat launch area. The area selected has a number of features that will help contain the fire safely.
The exact date and time will be determined by prevailing weather conditions. A second notice to residents will take place just prior to the burn taking place.
Controlled burning such as this is a valuable tool for maintaining healthy habitats and diverse vegetation.
