PUBLIC NOTICE: EXTREME HEAT WARNING
Protect Yourself – And Our Animals – From Dangerous Temperatures

Due to the ongoing extreme heat, we urge all residents to take immediate precautions to stay safe — and to protect our most vulnerable, including children, seniors, and animals.

🌡️ Temperatures inside parked cars can rise to deadly levels within minutes — even with windows cracked. NEVER leave pets or children unattended in a vehicle under any circumstances. It can be fatal.

🐾 Animals suffer from heatstroke too. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them. Make sure pets have access to:
    •    Plenty of clean water
    •    Shaded or cool indoor areas
    •    Limited outdoor activity during peak heat hours

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For all residents:
    •    Stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure
    •    Check in on elderly neighbors and those with health conditions
    •    Utilize local cooling centers if your home becomes too hot

🚨 If you see a child or animal in a hot car, call 911 immediately. Seconds can save lives.

Let’s look out for each other — and for the animals who rely on us.

Stay safe. Stay cool. Save lives.

I stood alongside state officials, town leaders, educators, first responders, and passionate local advocates to reaffirm our shared commitment to roadway, bikeway, and pedestrian safety. 🚦🚧

As Ranking Member of the Transportation Committee, I’ve worked tirelessly to prevent tragedies before they happen—by advancing legislation that strengthens infrastructure, enforces safety standards, and promotes education to stop distracted, reckless, and impaired driving.

In Fairfield and across Connecticut, we are putting safety first through the three E’s: education, engineering, and enforcement. That means safer crosswalks, smarter road designs, stronger helmet and seatbelt laws, and public awareness campaigns that save lives.

Thank you to our first responders and community leaders who make this a priority every day. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone—drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.
