📚 Read Across America Week 2026!

It was great to celebrate the start of Read Across America Week with Mrs. McDougal’s Kindergarten class at Northville Elementary School in New Milford and read The Smart Cookie together! 🍪

Every child in our state deserves access to books that inspire confidence, spark imagination, and remind them of just how capable they truly are. Reading is the foundation upon which every future is built.

Thank you to the students, teachers, and staff at Northville Elementary for welcoming me into your classroom. Keep reading, keep dreaming, and never forget — you are one smart cookie!

Great news for farms in the 30th District! I’m proud to share that two local farms have been awarded 2026 Farm Transition Grants from the Connecticut Department of Agricultre.

Horticulture Therapy Farm, LLC in Litchfield received $1,720 to build out a drying and storage system, purchase a huller machine and nut cracker for walnut production, and expand their maple syrup operation.

CowPots in East Canaan was awarded $23,255 to investigate how commercial papermaking techniques could be applied to create paper from manure and to develop new organic-compliant products.

These grants reflect the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of our local agricultural community, and I’m thrilled to see 30th District farms recognized among the best in Connecticut. Congratulations to the recipients!
