“We must continue our work to create a state that is affordable for all, with safe communities and full support of law enforcement. We must also continue to properly invest in students and teachers throughout Connecticut, while ensuring that those investments produce meaningful results. 🇺🇸🇺🇸Promoting pride in country, respect for the flag and appreciation of our freedoms are part of the fundamental backbone of our liberty. Across generations, brave Americans have sacrificed, served, and stood united to protect the freedoms we hold dear.

The Town of Watertown in conjunction with the National Exchange Club, planted a Field of Flags as a powerful tribute to our Nation’s flag and the enduring values it represents. By planting flags in honor of our heroes and history, we create a living message: that freedom is never free, and remembrance is a duty we all share.

A total of 26 historic flags are on display from the original Grand union flag through our current 50 state flag. A truly moving exhibit to our 250 years of American history.

Today marks Flag Day across the U.S., where we celebrate the symbol of our great constitutional republic. Our flag—the Stars and Stripes—is revered across the globe for what it represents: freedom in a land where we are all equal in the eyes of God.

From the early iterations of our flag including the War of 1812 when it inspired Francis Scott Key to pen the poem that eventually became our National Anthem, to times of conflict when it has been a symbol for our American heroes who’ve taken up arms in defense of the values that our flag represents—our flag is the symbol of our unique American ideals.

As we approach the 250th anniversary of our great Republic, let us celebrate Flag Day and all that our distinguished flag represents.

As the time-honored lyric from You’re a Grand Old Flag reminds us, “And forever in peace may you wave!”

Great to speak at the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) forum today and join leaders from across the state who are focused on growing CT’s economy.

We talked about how economic development starts at the local level. By supporting small businesses, attracting investment, creating JOBS, people can thrive.

I supported ideas over this past session that can accomplish this—CT’s job growth is a bipartisan issue.

Thank you to CEDAS for bringing together so many dedicated professionals committed to Connecticut’s success.
