State Rep. Eleni Kavros-Degraw (D–Avon) took to social media over the weekend, gushing about how a town in her district “…looks like it fell out of a #hallmark#christmas movie…” And she’s right - it does. Many of Connecticut’s small towns do, which is why so many Hallmark movies are set here.
But as Chair of the House Planning & Development Committee, Rep. Kavros-Degraw aggressively rammed through a revamped version of a previously vetoed Democratic housing bill - one that gives Hartford politicians control over local zoning and pressures small towns to build large new housing developments.

Republicans have been demanding this for years, and we are not stopping until the public benefits charge is gone and families get the relief they deserve. We will continue the fight to eliminate this charge during the 2026 legislative session and make our great state more affordable!
