We were in the Government Administration and Elections Committee meeting until midnight on Friday (3/20), working through a 52 bill agenda before the majority called it quits.

The remaining 19 had to be finished today (3/23).

One of the most concerning was H.B. 5548.

It would keep the home addresses of doctors who perform gender-related procedures private and create new exemptions that limit access to some records from public colleges and universities.

I raised serious concerns about the precedent this sets. Once again, we’re seeing efforts to limit public access to information the people of Connecticut have a right to see.

Last Friday (March 20), at the Government Administration and Elections Committee meeting, I offered amendment after amendment to H.B. 5001: An Act Concerning Absentee Voting for All and Various Other Reforms to the Administration of Elections.

Each one was aimed at improving the bill and addressing real concerns I’ve heard from residents.

Every single one was rejected.

They weren’t seriously considered, just voted down along party lines.

That’s what you’ll see in this video: a clear, unfiltered look at the process.

I’ve trimmed it to keep the narrative moving, but what remains is important because transparency matters, and so does accountability.

Take a look at what actually happened:

Reminder - my fundraiser event with State Representative State Representative Gale Mastrofrancesco is this afternoon! I hope you can join us.

We’re almost there - just 30 more $5 donations to qualify. If you’ve already given, thank you. If not, or if you can share this with a friend or family member willing to chip in $5 or $10, we can get across the finish line today.

secure.anedot.com/sampson-for-ct-2026/donateI’m almost there.

To qualify for Connecticut’s Citizens’ Election Program, campaigns must meet two requirements: a fundraising goal and a minimum number of individual donors.

Thanks to your support, I’ve already met the dollar requirement.

Now I just need 75 more small donations from residents of Wolcott, Southington, Waterbury, Prospect, or Cheshire.

Even $5 or $10 qualifies.

If you live in one of these towns, please take 60 seconds and help push us over the finish line.

And if you donate online, I hope you’ll still join us at McBride’s on March 22.
