Earlier this week, I had a great time at the Boys & Girls Club Of Greater Waterbury making English muffin pizzas with the kids.

It was wonderful spending time with everyone, sharing some laughs, and seeing how excited the kids were throughout the program.

Thank you to everyone at the Boys & Girls Club who helped organize the event and for the warm welcome. I truly enjoyed the experience!

For Immediate Release

Sen. Stephen Harding and Sen. Rob Sampson issued the following statement regarding the governor’s signing of House Bill 5001.

“Gov. Lamont has seen the viral videos of ‘Wanda’ stuffing Bridgeport ballot boxes which made Connecticut a national punchline.

But this law does nothing to address that Bridgeport embarrassment.

Rather than restoring confidence, this expands mail-in voting and makes sweeping changes to election law without putting meaningful safeguards in place to protect election integrity.

This massive, controversial bill was pushed through on the last day of session following an all-night debate.

It was 73 sections long and over 100 pages, yet only one section actually dealt with the absentee voting. The rest of the bill was packed with unrelated provisions, partisan messaging, and major election policy changes that deserved separate hearings and public debate.

Senate Republicans offered multiple amendments focused on strengthening election integrity and restoring public confidence in our elections.

Senate Republicans pushed for voter photo ID requirements, stronger penalties for election fraud, safeguards on absentee voting, and reasonable limits on expanded early voting timelines.

Every single Senate Republican amendment was rejected by Democrats.

The bottom line?

Gov. Lamont doesn’t want to talk about Wanda.

Gov. Lamont and the Democratic majority have chosen politics over safeguards once again.”

It was an honor to recognize such a deserving local business leader and celebrate this incredible achievement. Congratulations again on this well-earned recognition!
