Senator Kane & Representative D’Amelio To Hold Office Hours In Middlebury

April 23, 2009

Senator Rob Kane (R-32) and Representative Anthony D’Amelio (R-71) will hold office hours for their constituents from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5th at the Shepardson Community Center.

The two legislators will meet with constituents in the dining room of the Shepardson Community Center, located at 1172 Whittemore Road in Middlebury.

“The General Assembly is considering a lot of important issues this year, including proposals to close the state’s current deficit and pass a new two-year budget. We want to provide our constituents with the opportunity to meet with us personally in order to ask questions and share their ideas,” said Senator Kane.

“With Connecticut’s economy still in recession and families struggling to make ends meet, the actions the state legislature takes to balance the budget over the next two years will affect almost every family in the 71st District. House and Senate Republicans recently proposed an alternative balanced budget that I support,” Representative D’Amelio said. “It eliminates the crippling tax increases included in the Democrats’ budget proposal, preserves vital programs and services at 2007 levels, and greatly reduces government costs through consolidations, agency mergers, retirements and salary and benefit concessions. The proposal requires no reduction to municipal aid – including no reduction in education funding for local school districts – and it restores the $500 property tax credit. Senator Kane and I look forward to discussing the state budget and other issues with our Middlebury constituents in our upcoming office hours.”
Both legislators encouraged their constituents who cannot attend office hours to contact them personally.
