Sen. Fazio & Harding Statement on CT Energy Legislation - CT Senate Republic

For Immediate Release

Sen. Ryan Fazio and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding proposed Senate Bill 1560. (https://www.cga.ct.gov/2025/TOB/S/PDF/2025SB-01560-R00-SB.PDF)

“Republicans will do anything possible to reduce unaffordable electricity bills for Connecticut families and job creators who are begging for relief.

For multiple years, Republicans have introduced and re-introduced common sense legislation to do just that, like removing the hidden ‘public benefits’ tax from their electric bills.

Our Republican plan would cut bills by more than $600 for the average Connecticut family.

Our Republican solutions have been mocked and dismissed by Democrat leaders who have killed our bills repeatedly over the last three years.

Today, we saw a Democrat senator offer an energy idea.  We welcome him doing so.

There are several concerning aspects of his bill that Republicans cannot vote for as is.  But Republicans always stand ready to do what we have been the only ones in the State Capitol focused on:  Reducing rates.

The best bill to confront our energy cost crisis – the bill we should pass into law – is our Republican Bill #647 which is co-sponsored by our entire Senate Republican Caucus.

We encourage our colleagues to pass it to reduce costs by over $600 per family and improve our state economy for all.”
