ANSONIA – At Ansonia-based small business Coastal Carriers, State Sen. Paul Cicarella (R-North Haven) and Connecticut Senate Republican lawmakers yesterday launched a grassroots tour of the state to join job creators and local leaders in demanding relief from the high cost of living and doing business here.
“Families, seniors, and business leaders talk to me every day, and they are all demanding relief from the cost of living. We are on the wrong track in this state with the cost of electricity, property taxes, and anti-business regulations and mandates. I am proud to join my Senate Republican colleagues to offer solutions to fix the untenable position Connecticut residents find themselves in,” said Sen. Cicarella.
He and Senate Republicans noted how Democrats are now proposing a tax on Amazon deliveries, looking to study a future mileage tax, and implementing a way to pay workers who go on strike.
The lawmakers were joined by Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti, Motor Transport Association of Connecticut President John Blair, and Coastal Carriers President and Managing Partner John Pruchnicki, who stressed the need for relief from both a municipal and business perspective.
Sen. Cicarella and the Senate Republican lawmakers said they will continue touring the state in order to hear directly from Connecticut residents, families, and small businesses.
“I will be inviting residents to gather in our district to make their voices heard, pushing for commonsense solutions,” he said. “This is the single most important quality-of-life issue we face, and I will continue to take that message to the Capitol.”
