April 8, 2025

Sen. John A. Kissel, Sen. Jason Perillo and Sen. Stephen Harding applauded the advancement of a bill in the Judiciary Committee that would allow law enforcement to confiscate driver’s licenses or vehicles used in so-called “street takeovers” which authorizes municipalities to adopt ordinances related to street takeovers and to destroy seized vehicles after 30 days. “This is a big – and positive – step.
The mayhem in our communities must stop.
Deterrents to the chaos on our streets must be put in place.
Will this bipartisan bill end up eventually passing?
We certainly hope so, and Gov. Lamont can help us get this over the finish line and make CT safer.”
The street takeovers bill awaits a vote in the full Senate and House.
