“Where is the transparency?” CT Senate GOP Statement on State’s Failure to Explain Release of Cannibal Killer - CT Senate Republic

For Immediate Release

Sen. Heather Somers, Sen. Paul Cicarella, Sen. Henri Martin and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement after the Psychiatric Security Review Board failed to meet a Mar. 18 deadline to explain in writing its controversial decision to grant “conditional release” to a man who killed a person with an ax in Bridgeport in 2011, then ate his eyeball and part of his brain. “So what’s the hold up? Where is the written explanation?

The board’s ‘memorandum of decision’ explaining its reasoning and detailing the conditions of release was due Mar. 18.

This decision has made international news.  It has left people across the globe outraged and disgusted. The victim’s family feels betrayed.

The public must see the full report.  The public has a right to know the criteria that led the board to make this decision.

This delay is unacceptable. Where is the transparency?”
