Senator Tony Hwang Remarks on the Start of Construction on the Dutch Point Viaduct

Sen. Tony Hwang, Ranking Senator on the Transportation Committee, issued the following statement regarding the start of construction on the Dutch Point Viaduct rehabilitation project on I-91 in Hartford between the area of the CT Convention Center and the Colt Armory.

“This funding is another step toward modernizing CT’s transportation infrastructure and strengthening our economy. These investments reduce commuter delays, improve safety, and promote environmental sustainability. They also boost good construction industry jobs. That’s good news for families and businesses across CT.

I would like to take a moment to recognize the diligent efforts of DOT Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto and DRS Commissioner Mark Boughton, who is also Senior Advisor to the Governor on Infrastructure, for their leadership and dedication throughout this challenging process. Their commitment has been instrumental in making this vital project a reality, and their tireless work ensures that Connecticut continues to make significant progress in improving our infrastructure and the quality of life for all residents.”
