Sen. Ryan Fazio’s Proposal to Cut Workers Licensing Fees Will be Heard on the Senate Floor - CT Senate Republic

HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Ryan Fazio (R-Greenwich) commends the General Law Committee for passing S.B. 611, an Act Establishing Maximum Charge for Certain Licensing Fees, unanimously during today’s committee meeting. This measure now awaits action on the floor of the Senate and House.

Senator Fazio first introduced the proposal to eliminate licensure fees for key professions in Connecticut with S.B. 135 in 2023, S.B. 135 in 2024, and S.B. 611 in 2025 with colleagues on both sides of the aisle, aiming to make the state a more attractive place to live and work by cutting unnecessary financial barriers and fees for skilled professionals.

Sen. Fazio said, “For several years it has been my top priority to pass legislation to cut burdensome fees on Connecticut’s workers, including our great teachers, nurses, mental health professionals, electricians, plumbers, and hundreds of thousands of other licensed professionals. I appreciate the continued support of the General Law Committee leadership and members in making this a priority. Workers shouldn’t have to pay this tax just for the right to work in our state! Now let’s finish the job this year by passing a broad licensing fee cut through both houses, in the budget, and getting the support of the governor!
