“We write with regard to the Office of Higher Education’s over-allocation of millions of dollars in scholarship funding to colleges.
We worry that deserving CT students may get shortchanged by their government – shortchanged through no fault of their own.
There is ongoing confusion and frustration as to the amount of taxpayer dollars that was over-allocated.
This issue highlights both accountability in government and the cost of living in CT.
The taxpayers of CT must have confidence and certainty as to how their money is being managed and spent by their government.
To have these expensive question marks hovering over the Office of Higher Education’s actions is unacceptable.
We write to request that your office conduct an audit as to what happened in this situation.
An examination by you – our state’s bipartisan watchdogs – could inject some much needed clarity and best practice recommendations into this matter.”
