“Sheer Arrogance”: CT Senate GOP Statement on Governor’s “Shady” Backroom PURA Deal - CT Senate Republic

The following statement regarding the governor’s back room PURA deal was issued by Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Henri Martin, Sen. Eric Berthel, Sen. Heather Somers, Sen. Rob Sampson, Sen. Ryan Fazio, Sen. Paul Cicarella, and Sen. Jeff Gordon:

“A shady 11th hour deal was hatched between Gov. Lamont and his fellow Democrats who control the legislature.

The sheer arrogance of it is beyond the pale.

The governor and his Democrat pals spent weeks negotiating behind closed doors to get one of their own a new job.

24 hours ago, multiple Democrats were going to vote “no” on PURA Chair Marissa Gillett’s nomination.

Now, they are voting “yes”?

Amazing how back room deals can change minds.

Senate Republicans voted ‘no’ today to call out the hypocrisy, the lack of transparency, and the disrespect shown to every CT citizen by this back room deal.

Meanwhile, Democrats at the State Capitol have spent exactly zero time figuring out how to lower electric rates as we enter the tenth month of this crisis.

Senate Republicans won’t be accomplices in the creation of the higher and higher electric bills that await already angry CT ratepayers.

Senate Republicans will instead continue to offer detailed solutions to lower rates – common sense ideas which get repeatedly mocked and dismissed by do-nothing Democrats and Gov. Lamont.”
