CT Now #2 for Highest Electricity Costs: CT Senate GOP Says Ditch “Hidden Tax” on Bills
February 20, 2025

Sen. Ryan Fazio, Sen. Jeff Gordon and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding CT residents now paying the 2nd highest electricity rates in the nation. (https://homeenergyclub.com/resources/average-electric-bill-by-state)
“We have now surpassed California, which has lost its mind.
The only state where electricity costs are higher than Connecticut is Hawaii, which is an island.
Why isn’t addressing this our top collective priority at the State Capitol?
Republicans are offering policies that are practical, that reduce the cost of delivering and generating electricity, that ensure we have reliability of the grid, while also protecting our environment.
For example: Let’s get rid of the ‘hidden tax’ on our bills: the Public Benefits Tax.
State leadership is necessary to help solve this problem.
Working class families and small businesses are getting crushed.
Republicans will continue to offer common sense solutions.”
