Sen. Hwang Statement on CVS Health-Aetna Layoffs

Sen. Tony Hwang, Ranking Senator on the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, issued the following statement regarding CVS Health announcing that 42 more employees assigned to the Aetna offices at 151 Farmington Ave., Hartford, will lose their jobs early next year.

“This steady drip, drip, drip of insurance job losses in the ‘Insurance Capital’ continues to be troubling.

Data scientists, computer engineers and analysts in management-level positions are losing their jobs.

This comes in addition to the termination of 416 employees set to be let go in December. Connecticut state government officials must continue to be persistent in seeking transparency during this major transition.”

Last month, Sen. Hwang voiced concerns about CVS Health’s announcement that it is replacing its CEO.
