Sen. Hwang Statement on CT Road Safety Ahead of Thanksgiving

November 25, 2024

For Immediate Release

Sen. Tony Hwang, the Ranking Senator on the state legislature’s Transportation Committee, today issued the following statement regarding road safety and wrong-way driving ahead of Thanksgiving.

“We want to prevent tragedies. People who have lost loved ones in a preventable tragedy, such as our traffic deaths, are still living it many years later.

We clearly still have much more work to do to ensure safety on our roadways. That includes focusing on distracted and reckless driving, as well as focusing on driver impairment by alcohol, marijuana and other substances.

We can pass all the laws we want, but ultimately, it’s called common sense and a respect for yourself and others on the road to protect and ensure safety.”

Sen. Hwang joined the governor, the Department of Transportation, State Police and state lawmakers at a press conference today to raise awareness about driver safety.
