Sen. Harding Urges Extension of Comment Period re: Brookfield Gas Compressor Station Expansion

November 15, 2024

BROOKFIELD – Sen. Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield) today wrote to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to urge FERC to extend the comment period regarding the plan to expand a natural gas compressor station located near many homes and just 1,900 feet from Whisconier Middle School.

“I have heard from many of my constituents who feel there isn’t enough time to comment on this project,” Harding wrote to FERC. “This issue has raised many concerns from people who live in my district, specifically Brookfield. The compressor station in Brookfield is located less than 2,000 feet from the town’s middle school. Because of this, many people in the town have concerns about the health and safety risks associated with an expansion.

We must ensure that the public has enough time to comment on these plans. I request that you allow for an extension of the public comment period to ensure that all voices and concerns will be heard before any decisions are made.”

The public can contact FERC at [email protected] .
