‘Keep paying more’: CT Senate GOP Statement on UI Filing

Sen. Ryan Fazio, Sen. Tony Hwang and Sen. Minority Leader Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding a filing made with state utility regulators today, which if approved will cause a majority of The United Illuminating Co.’s residential customers to pay more for their electricity supply in the first six months of 2025 than they are paying now.

That’s the message from majority Democrats in the state legislature to Connecticut’s working and middle class families who already dread opening their unaffordable monthly electric bills.

Democrats said ‘no’ to a special legislative session to provide relief.

Democrats dismissed Republicans’ multiple common sense proposals for relief.

So: their policy is summed up in those three words: ‘Keep paying more.’ ”
