CT Senate GOP Pledges to Defend Fiscal Guardrails that Dems Will Try to Dismantle

Sen. Henri Martin, Sen. Eric Berthel and Sen. Minority Leader Stephen Harding issued the following statement in response to the November 2024 consensus revenue forecast, which was jointly issued Nov. 12 by the Office of Policy and Management and the Office of Fiscal Analysis.

“Republicans continue to stand with the governor in his defense of the smart bipartisan fiscal guardrails. Those guardrails – which were put in place when there was an 18-18 Republican-Democrat tie in the Connecticut State Senate – have forced disciplined government spending and enabled us to pay off debt while also lowering taxes on working and middle class families.

But make no mistake: majority Democrats will attempt to dismantle and shatter those guardrails in 2025.”
