In Monroe: Sen. Kelly visits SBA Business Recovery Center & local biz Sip and Scoop

MONROE – Sen. Kevin Kelly, who represents Monroe, today joined Gov. Ned Lamont during a visit to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Business Recovery Center at the Monroe Police Department. The center is helping individuals, families, and businesses with losses due to severe storm, flooding, landslides and mudslides that occurred on Aug. 18-19.

“I thank SBA’s Customer Service for being available to assist business owners here in Monroe,” Sen. Kelly said. “At this convenient location, employers can complete their disaster loan application, accept documents, and provide updates on an application’s status. I also thank the governor for taking the time to visit Monroe as well as for his ongoing attention to this recovery effort.”

Walk-ins are accepted, but you can schedule an in-person appointment in advance. The SBA Business Recovery Center at the police department on 7 Fan Hill Road is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sen. Kelly then visited Sip and Scoop, a small local business which opened three weeks before the storm hit. Sen. Kelly spoke with Max Ahmad, the company’s manager, about how businesses like Sip and Scoop can access business physical disaster loans, economic injury disaster loans and home disaster loans.
