CT Senate GOP: Dismal national ranking shows need to preserve fiscal discipline and pass pro-growth policies
October 4, 2024For Immediate Release
Sen. Ryan Fazio, Sen. Tony Hwang, Sen. Henri Martin and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding Connecticut finishing dead last among all the states and running a deficit of $44,300 for each taxpayer in a new study by government finance watchdog Truth in Accounting.
“Do Connecticut Democrats still want to obliterate our bipartisan fiscal guardrails after seeing this dismal national ranking? Yes, they absolutely do. In 2025, after the election, the Democrats will spend, borrow and tax to their hearts’ content. Think Connecticut’s a ‘sinkhole state’ now? Think electric rates and the cost of living are out of control now? Just wait. Meanwhile, Republicans will defend fiscal discipline and push pro-business policies which will help us grow our way to a healthy economy for everyone.”
