September 24, 2024

TORRINGTON — Rep. Jay Case, Sen. Lisa Seminara and Sen. Stephen Harding, who each represent Torrington at the State Capitol, are applauding the Connecticut Community Investment Fund board’s anticipated Sep. 24 approval of $1.5 million in funding for renovations and upgrades to the historic Warner Theatre.

The theater plans to use the funding to renovate its building, lobby and stage, including HVAC systems. Sound, lighting, security and smoke-alarm systems will be modernized. The theater will also be made more accessible.

“The Warner is a gem for downtown Torrington,” the lawmakers said. “It’s a gathering place. A place to celebrate the arts and entertainment. The theater is a regional asset, a catalyst for economic development which draws visitors from far and wide. This funding will be put to wise use in order for the theater to continue to provide people of all ages with wonderful memories to last a lifetime. This funding is definitely worthy of a ‘bravo’ and a standing ovation. We thank the governor and our state economic development officials for recognizing the value of this smart investment.”
