AVON – Sen. Lisa Seminara and area officials on Sep. 26 presented wartime service medals to Avon and Canton veterans during a ceremony at Avon High School.
“It is such an honor to present these medals to our local veterans,” Sen. Seminara said. “It is a way to thank them for their service and sacrifice to our country. They fought to secure American freedom, virtue, equality and prosperity. Thanks to the courage and bravery of men and women willing to give their lives for our country, we are free.”
The Connecticut Wartime Service Medal is available to Connecticut veterans who have performed at least 90 days of wartime service as a Connecticut resident.
Sen. Seminara honored Simsbury veterans in a medal ceremony last week.
