Sen. Hwang & Harding: Avangrid Purchase Must be Reviewed “with a fine-toothed comb”

Minority Leader Stephen Harding issued the following statement in reaction to Connecticut’s Attorney General and Consumer Counsel filing a petition with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority seeking state review of the proposed acquisition by Iberdrola of all remaining shares of Avangrid.
“State officials must go over every detail of this proposal with a fine-toothed comb. This proposed acquisition raises many questions regarding transparency, costs going forward, and consumer rights. Serious questions which require specific and thorough answers.
Connecticut families and job creators are already overwhelmed by electricity bills that are much too high. They are demanding that the legislature take action to stop the bleeding.
