State Republicans expressed concern about losses in specific areas such as manufacturing. Sen. Henri Martin, R-Bristol, ranking senator on the legislature’s Commerce Committee, Sen. Paul Cicarella, R-North Haven, and Sen. Stephen Harding, R-Brookfield, released a statement regarding Connecticut’s August 2024 jobs report.
“The report states that Connecticut manufacturing jobs declined last month, likely because employers are not able to keep pace with retirements. This is highly concerning. Clearly, more must be done to strengthen Connecticut’s workforce development pipeline. We must ensure that manufacturers have a viable pool of talent here in the state. We need to listen to our job creators,” they said.
