Sen. Harding Issues Forceful Rebuke Aimed at the People Posting Threats Online

A series of school threats have caused panic in Connecticut communities and disrupted classes to start the new academic year.
One Connecticut legislator issued a forceful rebuke aimed at the people posting threats online.
Sen. Stephen Harding, R-30th District, who represents towns affected by the threats, said the incidents cause “turmoil, trauma and major disruption in our communities,” in a statement issued through a spokesperson.
“From Torrington to New Milford to Litchfield and throughout Connecticut, we must have no tolerance for these devastating crimes,” he said. “These are not ‘pranks’. These are felonies. You will face stiff punishment and prison time if you are caught threatening a school. Don’t even think about it. That blunt and clear message must be sent throughout our state.”
Police and school officials have said some of the threats were investigated and deemed not credible.
However, authorities have not indicated whether any of the people arrested had access to weapons or whether they had genuine plans to carry out violence.
