Sen. Gordon Highlights National POW/MIA Recognition Day

September 19, 2024

State Sen. Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock), Ranking Senator on the legislature’s Committee on Veterans’ and Military Affairs Committee, is highlighting how Friday, Sept. 20, is the 45th National POW/MIA Recognition Day observance.

The third Friday of September is a date set aside annually to recognize and remember unrecovered prisoners of war and those missing in action who remain unaccounted for today.

“We must never forget the brave Americans who answered the call to serve in the military to fight not only for our nation’s freedom, but for the freedom of others in foreign lands,” Sen. Gordon said. “On Friday, we pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by the military men and women who are imprisoned or unaccounted for as a result of their military service.”
