CT Senate GOP: CT Inside Investigator Story “raises questions about billions of taxpayer $$”

Sen. Ryan Fazio, Ranking Senator on the Energy and Technology Committee, Sen. Tony Hwang, Sen. Jeff Gordon, Sen. Lisa Seminara and Sen. Minority Leader Stephen Harding, Ranking Senator on the Environment Committee issued the following statement in reaction to a CT Inside Investigator story which reveals that between 2004 and 2024, Connecticut families have contributed $7 billion to government programs and policies through their electric payments.

“$7 billion: It’s an enormous amount of taxpayer money. This revelation raises obvious questions about where those billions of taxpayer dollars have been allocated. Families and small businesses are hurting. They can’t afford their electric bills. They want action, they want relief and they want transparency. Republicans want all those things, too. As we continue to press for a more affordable Connecticut, Republicans will continue to point to this $7 billion and whether or not this money has been – and is being – well-spent.”
