Sen. Seminara on CT Government Approving Another Electric Rate Adjustment: Special Session Needed “ASAP”
August 14, 2024Statement from Sen. Lisa Seminara on CT regulators approving another electric rate adjustment.
“The hits to overburdened ratepayers just keep on coming. State regulators today approved another electric rate adjustment on top of one that gave everyone sticker shock last month. This underscores how policies put forth by Democrat-controlled state government have serious consequences. These rate adjustments for Eversource and United Illuminating of an additional $80 million starting in September to enhance the EV charging grid will further burden ratepayers already struggling to pay their monthly electric bills.
Republicans want clean air and a healthy environment. We support electric vehicles. However, we will continue to fight for consumer choice instead of EV mandates that eliminate choice.
We also continue to demand that the governor call lawmakers into special session as soon as possible. Pass smart energy policies that lead to rate stability. Do something to help Connecticut families and job creators who desperately need relief. Stop the bleeding.”
Last week, Sen. Seminara called for a special session to tackle high electric rates in Connecticut.
Sen. Seminara is inviting area residents to attend a “Pizza & Policy” legislative update on Thursday, Aug. 15 at Iron Horse Pizzeria and Sports Pub, 21 Iron Horse Boulevard, Simsbury.
From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sen. Seminara, will discuss the 2024 legislative session and answer questions from constituents. She is encouraging attendees to bring their electric bills to the “Pizza & Policy” event.
