CT Senate GOP: Audit of SERC Shows Need for Corrective Actions
August 5, 2024Sen. Eric Berthel, Ranking Senator on the Education Committee, Sen. Lisa Seminara, Member of the Education Committee, and Sen. Stephen Harding, Member of the Education Committee issued the following statement regarding a recent state audit which found that the State Education Resource Center (SERC) failed to properly invest nearly $8 million in cash and underreported expenses to state authorities.
“The non-partisan audit clearly points out that SERC does not have its financial affairs in order. The failures cited in the audit are costing Connecticut taxpayers money. That’s unacceptable. That’s also disrespectful to the students and taxpayers that SERC serves. We call on SERC’s leadership and the executive branch to take action immediately to address these failures.”
