August 5, 2024

Sen. Heather Somers, Ranking Senator on the Public Health Committee, Sen. Jeff Gordon, a medical doctor and a member of the Public Health Committee, and Sen. Republican Leader Stephen Harding today highlighted the progress being made at Connecticut hospitals in addressing the state’s doctor shortage.

“We commend our hospitals for their focus on this crucial health care access and staffing issue. Our mutual goal is to address the state’s health care workforce shortages from primary care doctors to specialty providers like pulmonologists and psychiatrists to nurses and respiratory therapists. We must work together to retain and increase Connecticut’s healthcare workforce in rural, urban and suburban settings. As lawmakers, we will continue to advance policies at the State Capitol which encourage people of all ages to consider pursuing attractive and rewarding health care careers.”
