Sen. Harding Statement on Travelers Championship Disruption

Sen. Republican Leader Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding the disruption of the Travelers Championship.

“Thank you to law enforcement and security who quickly got this situation under control. This is yet another reason as to why we will always support our law enforcement who keep us safe. The lawbreakers were all released after posting $5,000 bonds, and this highlights another reason Connecticut should re-evaluate its criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and breach of peace penalties. Our current laws are a mere slap on the wrist for people who commit these acts and embarrass our state during premier events for Connecticut, along with other more serious crimes that don’t carry the proper consequences for the individuals charged with these crimes. Let’s send a clear message: We don’t tolerate this lawlessness in Connecticut.”
